Method for feeding and managing ostriches

(1) Feed: Artificial breeding species of ostriches should be provided with a balanced diet based on the nutritional needs of ostrich species. The feed is usually formulated according to the needs of the ostrich for calcium and phosphorus (the female ostrich has a high requirement for calcium and phosphorus during the laying period), and the ostrich is most vulnerable to the lack of fat-soluble vitamins and trace elements such as iodine, iron and zinc. However, it is not advisable to overfeed feeds containing high fat content. This is because ostriches do not have gallbladder and poor fat absorption capacity. In particular, the supply of energy should not be excessive, so as to prevent the weight gain of the breeding ostrich causing the egg production rate to decline, and even stop production.
(2) Feeding and management methods: The breeding and management of breeding ostriches should be aimed at increasing egg production to breed more quality young ostriches. African ostriches can be fed together by a male and female. The size of the aviary bird house is preferably 10-12 m2 each. Bird bar area is generally suitable for each species of ostrich 250 ~ 300 m 2, the length of the bird bar is generally better than 7:3. The drinking tools used by the ostriches are made of cement and made of solid cement tanks to prevent them from becoming ill when they are crushed or damaged by the bird's feet or when they are wet.
It is usually advisable to feed 4 species of ostriches on a daily basis. The first time of daily feeding is between 6:30 and 7:30. The interval between feedings is basically the same. The order of feeding is first followed by fine or fine material. , Green coarse mixed feed, feeding about 1.5 kg, and to maintain regular clean drinking water (25 °C warm water in winter drink). In order to make the regular movement of the species of ostriches, at least 1 to 2 hours of driving each day during the morning and afternoon. In addition, the aviary barn should be cleaned regularly to keep it clean and to eliminate feces from the bar. It is best to sterilize drinking tools and birds on a weekly basis.
