In 2005, Funan County Agricultural Service Center introduced a variety of suitable indoor ornamental dwarf cherry tomatoes. After two years of experiments and demonstrations, it has achieved good results. Cherry tomatoes used for indoor viewing are different from the unlimited growth type varieties in cultivation techniques. The main technical points are as follows:
1. Variety selection: The cherry tomatoes we introduced are the dwarf red cherry varieties, dwarf red bells, which was selected by Beijing Green Gold Blue Seedling Co., Ltd. The plants are about 20 cm tall, and the fruit set begins in the 7th to 8th. The fruit is spherical and red, with a single fruit weight of 10-15 grams. The number of results per plant is up to 136, with an average of 109. The variety is precocious, heat-resistant, and disease-resistant stronger than ordinary tomatoes.
2. Seedling management: dry seeds are used for seeding when seedlings are raised. The humidity of the seedbed should not be too large, otherwise the bud rate will be affected. When sowing, the soil temperature is controlled at about 27°C, and after 4 to 5 days, budding is reduced to 20°C. Ventilation should be taken care of to prevent the effect of plant shape due to leggy growth. When the seedling grows out of the first true leaf, it moves to a nutrition bowl with a diameter of 8 to 10 cm to promote flower bud differentiation. The seedling time is 55-65 days long.
3. Basin soil preparation: In order to facilitate the transportation and suitable for viewing, the single plant pot cultivation method is adopted. The potted soil must be loose and breathable. The main components of the nutritious soil are: 80% peat or Northeast pine soil and 20% no Loose garden soil for crops. Add 5 kg of NPK fertilizer (15:15:15) per cubic meter in the well-matched nutrient soil, mix and mix thoroughly. If there is no peat and loose soil, it can also be replaced by the waste of planting edible fungi, the effect is also very good, and the cost is lower.
4. Greenhouse Cultivation: Cherry tomatoes are planted in greenhouses in the early stage. Pots with a diameter of more than 20 cm must be used for the flower pots, and the well-matched nursery soil should be planted in pots. Before planting, first make a 6-meter-long and 1.2-meter-wide beam in a greenhouse, dig 10 cm downwards, and put the pots that have been planted on the seedlings into the pots. After each pot is filled, lower the pots. Water is poured in, and the water is sucked up slowly from the lower part of the pot until the nutritious soil in the pot is completely wetted.
The daytime temperature after planting was maintained at 22°C to 28°C, and the night temperature was not less than 9°C. Dwarf red bell is more resistant to drought, but not wet, more water, more fertilizer is easy to crack the fruit. The dwarf cherry tomatoes used for ornamental purposes have strong ability of flowering and fruit setting, so it is better not to use 2,4-D or anti-dropping agents to avoid causing deformity and affecting the ornamental effect. Under low temperature and low light conditions, artificial pollination can be assisted by vibration. Vibrational pollination can normalize and mature the seeds in the fruits. This not only ensures uniform and round fruits, but also prolongs the development cycle of the fruits and delays plant senescence.
5. Pest control: The dwarf red bell grows robustly and has strong resistance to disease. It does not develop disease in well-ventilated environment. The whole growth cycle can realize pesticide-free cultivation. The insect pests are mainly greenhouse whitefly and leaf miner. The prevention is mainly based on the greenhouse, nutrient soil, pots before the planting, high temperature stuffy shed or chemical treatment to kill the eggs inside.
6. Adapt to exercise: Dwarf red bell cherry tomatoes generally mature about 50 days after the first panicle fruit is established, when there are 4 to 5 fruits turn red, you can move into the family indoor ornamental conservation. Due to low humidity and weak light in general households, it is advisable to reduce water, increase evaporation, and gradually perform 20% to 30% shading treatment before entering the room for 7 to 10 days to enhance its adaptability after entering the room. Before the removal of the greenhouse, a layer of perlite can be placed on the surface of the pots, which not only improves the water retention but also enhances the aesthetic effect.
7. Ornamental conservation: Cherry tomatoes that are moved into the room should be promptly removed from diseased and yellowed leaves to promote ventilation. If possible, increase the light, enhance the photosynthesis of the plants, and prevent the occurrence of diseases. After the flowering results, the plants are easily tilted, and they can be supported by bamboo or steel wire to enhance the ornamental effect. The nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer was chased once every 25 to 35 days during indoor growth, and about 1 g per plant was applied. Do not spray water from the top of the plant while watering. It is best to place the pot in water at room temperature and slowly inhale from the bottom.
