2011 China Food Safety Rule of Law Summit will be held

The 2011 China Food Safety Rule of Law Summit will be held in Beijing in late December. Recently, the organizer China Law Society held a press conference to introduce the forum.

This forum will focus on the theme of “Enforcing Food Safety through the Rule of Law,” and will improve the food safety supervision and management system, establish and improve the accountability system for food safety accidents, formulate and improve food safety standards, and strengthen food safety risk monitoring, assessment, and early warning. We will conduct wide-ranging and in-depth exchanges and dialogues on issues such as cracking down on illegal and criminal activities in the food and drug field and intensifying social supervision on food safety.

According to reports, the forum will present the following features: First, openness. The forum will invite outstanding representatives of different groups such as the legislative department, the supervisory department, the judiciary, and scholars to participate widely, express their views, and try to reach a scientific and reasonable consensus. The second is public welfare. The forum is purely public welfare. It is designed to solve problems and propose countermeasures. The third is to practice. The forum will carry out activities in the national food safety system innovation case collection and select excellent innovation examples to communicate at the conference to fully realize the interaction between the theoretical and practical sectors. The fourth is the transformation of results. The forum will invite representatives of the central decision-making departments to participate in the seamless integration of theoretical research and decision-making departments; fully discuss local innovation cases to make them theoretical, standardized and institutionalized; and form meeting results to the central decision-making department after the meeting.
