Treatment of walnut trees after frost damage

After frostbite trees are frostbite, they must take antifreeze measures as soon as possible so as not to affect the production and diseases in the coming year.

1, trunk protection

(1) Frost-damaged walnut trees of Grades 4 to 5 shall be immediately painted with general tree-protection or trunk whitening in order to prevent the occurrence of severe cold injury and rot disease.

(2) After the snow, the snow around the trunk is removed in time, and the ground temperature rises. After the surface is thawed, the tree below 4 years is centered on the trunk and a plastic mulch is laid about 1 square meter.

2, fertilize and water

(1) Fertilize once the soil is thawed and before germination (March and mid-March). Using circular or radial fertilization ditch method, the big tree plant applies organic fertilizer 50kg, urea 1-2kg; sapling plant applies urea 0.2-0.5kg, water immediately after fertilization. After spraying, the tree was sprayed with 0.1-0.3% urea and potassium dihydrogen phosphate mixture for extra-root dressing.

(2) As soon as possible after the soil is thawed, loosen the soil on the tree trays, and in all places, fully plow the forest land to loosen the soil.

3, timely trim

(1) For trees above the second level of freezing damage, before the buds sprout to the leaf opening (from mid-March to mid-April), divide the frozen and damaged parts of the branches and perform timely and moderate pruning. Cut off the dead parts of the branches and apply 3-5-degree lime sulfur or 50% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder 50 times. The cut branches were transported out of the forest and burned.

(2) In the middle and early May of May, we will select and stay on the branches after pruning. Select new cultivars and result branches, cut off the back branches, erect branches, dense branches, cross branches, and restore the tree potential and tree shape as soon as possible.

(3) In mid-to-late and late May, the frozen tree of the sapling and the grafted part of the above-ground whole body will be frozen and frozen, and the new branch of the young tree will be selected to stay on the branch. The new sapling trunk will be selected and grafted. Slightly new, cut off the other buds, new buds, and summer budding.

4. Prevention and control of rot

(1) Walnut trees are prone to secondary diseases - rot. In early spring (mid-April, mid-April), timely detection of rot disease was found:

Scraping of lesions: The rot lesions are scraped off with a razor blade and the mouth is scraped into a "long shuttle" shape with smooth edges. From the lesions, a 0.5-inch-wide intact cortex was scraped together, leaving no lesion tissue.

Applicator: Apply the squeegee with general tree or 50% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder 50 times or 50% eutectic wettable powder 50 times, or 5 to 10 Baume degrees lime sulfur. Disinfect and then brush Bordeaux fluid to protect the wound.

5. scratch protection

After scraping the mouth and applying the medicine, scrape the mouth with a piece of cloth or a dark plastic strip to facilitate wound healing. The scraped tissue was collected and transported out of the woodland. The scraped tissue must not be left in the forest. Prevention of rot disease is to "scrape early, scrape, and scrape."
