Silage feeding technical points

Silage refers to the green and juicy feedstuffs preserved in the closed silage facility when the green and juicy feed is fermented by lactic acid bacteria. In the use of the process should pay attention to the following technical points.

First, feeding method

When feeding, you should feed less at the beginning, and then gradually increase to enough to allow the animal to adapt. The baking soda should be added to the cows in time. When the silage is fed, the pH value in the rumen of the cow is reduced, which may cause acidosis. You can add 1.5% baking soda in the concentrate feed to promote gastric peristalsis, neutralize acidic substances in the stomach, increase feed intake, and increase digestibility. Conditional farmers can better mix the concentrate feed, silage, and hay to feed the livestock on a fully mixed diet. Frozen silage cannot be fed. This will not only reduce the production performance but also cause abortion of pregnant animals.

Second, access method

It is advisable to take one time each morning and afternoon, and the thickness of silage to be taken each time should be not less than 10 cm to ensure that the silage is fresh, the palatability is good, the nutrient loss is minimized, and the best effect of feeding silage is achieved. Remove the silage can not be exposed to sunlight, do not bulk heap, scattered, it is best to use bags, placed in the cow house in the shade. After each withdrawal, the silage in the pit shall be re-drilled and then tightly sealed with a plastic cloth. Silage pits should be strictly protected against rodents and some diseases should be transmitted to livestock.

Third, to ensure the quality of silage, metamorphic material firmly not feed

1. After the silage is opened, the smell of silage acid is smelled. The color is greenish green or yellow-green. The texture is soft and moist. It can be determined as high-quality silage and can be fed. If the feed turns black or brown, the smell is sour, sticky in the hands, or sticky and dry, it means that the silage has been mildewed, and the moldy silage cannot be fed.

2, silage can not replace other feed, a single feed, silage, although nutritious, but can not meet the full nutritional needs of beef cattle. Therefore, it must be matched with a certain amount of energy and protein feed, minerals and high quality hay. Silage feed generally accounts for less than 50% of dry matter in the diet.

3. Because the silage contains a large amount of organic acids and has laxative effect. If diarrhea is found during the feeding process, it should be immediately reduced or stopped. Check whether the silage is mixed with mildew or caused by other diseases. The diarrhea will be continued after the animals return to normal, and the females should not be fed more during the later period of pregnancy.

4. After feeding silage, the amount of concentrated feed should be reduced as appropriate depending on the animal's moisture and other production performance, but it should not be reduced too much or too quickly.

5 Scientifically determine the amount of feeding. The amount of silage fed should be determined based on the weight and use of the livestock.

6. In winter, the temperature is low. When silage is fed in the morning, after the silage is taken out, the temperature should be raised and then fed.
