There is no improvement in the difficulty of selling agricultural products

Since October, many vegetables and fruits in our country have been unmarketable and “selling hard”, and the prices of agricultural products have once again become “roller coasters”. At the same time, the high cost of circulation has caused consumers to continue to experience “buying expensive” when they buy fruits and vegetables and other agricultural products. The situation in which the circulation of agricultural products is called “middle laughter” has not changed.

According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Commerce, since the beginning of this year, the supply and demand of China's vegetable and fruit markets have been balanced overall. In November, the volume of vegetable trade in the country's 100 wholesale markets increased by 15.2% year-on-year, and the average wholesale price of 18 kinds of vegetables nationwide was 2.99 yuan per kg, up by 7.6% from the previous month and up by 10.3% year-on-year; the nationwide wholesale price of fruits rose by 2.9%, 0.4% year-on-year . According to the statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture, the area and output of vegetables in the country in October increased by 3.0% and 1.7% respectively year-on-year, with little overall fluctuation.

However, the monitoring of the Ministry of Commerce also showed that many vegetables and fruits have been unmarketable in China since October. According to Kong Lingyu, deputy inspector of the Department of Market Construction of the Ministry of Commerce, the prices of some varieties were relatively good in the early period, and the planting area was expanded. The supply was obvious. Increased prices fell. For example, the price of Chinese cabbage in November decreased by 16.2% month-on-month and 4.1% year-on-year.

The president of the China Vegetable Circulation Association, Dai Zhongjiu, analyzed that the recent "selling difficulties" are all road dishes such as garlic, onion, radish, Chinese cabbage, and chilli. These roadside dishes are easy to grow, the demand of the people is large, and the enthusiasm of farmers for planting is high. Together with centralized listing, if the cabbage harvest period is September or October, it is easy to form backlogs and slow sales.

"Price volatility is the basis for the allocation of resources for the market economy. The current problem is that the volatility of agricultural products is too large, the frequency is too high, and the contradiction between small-scale production and large markets is the root cause of the problem," Kong Lingyu said.

Experts pointed out that at the current stage, China's agricultural production and marketing are organized to a low degree, planting is lacking in guidance, blindly follow the trend, resulting in a sharp increase in the output of some varieties, centralized listing, a rapid increase in the expansion of the area and the phenomenon of slow-growing areas in newly added planting regions.
