Tomato color change three attention

Tomato coloration refers to a process in which the fruit turns from green to red and gradually matures. In the process of color conversion of tomato fruits, if the management is not properly handled, tomato fruits are likely to form a “flower face”. The temperature control in the greenhouse is not scientific and management methods are not suitable. It is very easy to cause uneven coloration of tomatoes.

To make the tomatoes well colored and highly commoditized, the following three points must be observed in the management of the sheds:

1. Reasonable fertilization: The base fertilizer is dominated by organic fertilizers, and various nutrients are reasonably matched. The application of potash fertilizer to promote the enlargement and coloration of tomato fruit is required before the color change period. This is because it takes time for the potash fertilizer to be absorbed and utilized by the plant after it is applied to the soil. Potash fertilizer should use basal fertilizer or the initial flushing of the results. After the fruit turns red, topdressing potassium fertilizer will basically not achieve the desired effect.

2. Temperature regulation: Tomato fruit development period should be controlled at 25°C~30°C during the day and 13°C~17°C at night.

3. Avoid excessive sparse leaves: The appropriate sparse leaves of the middle and late stages of the tomato are beneficial to the coloring of the fruit, but they must not have neglected the head. In the color-changing leaves, the old leaves, yellow leaves, and a few leaves shading around the fruits must be removed from the diseased leaves and the lower parts of the plants. The leaves of the lower part of the red fruits must not be completely removed, so as to avoid reducing the photosynthetic accumulation of the plants. Affects fruit enlargement.
